Legislative Toolkit: Visit Your Senator or Member of Congress

Legislative visits are an important part of the Face the Truth campaign. When you speak to your representative, you can explain how racial profiling impacts your particular community, and ask them to take steps to end racial profiling. The federal End Racial Profiling Act of 2011 has been introduced in the House and the Senate: ask your senator or congressperson to co-sponsor this piece of legislation.

If you are planning a legislative visit, check out the toolkit and resource packet, and check in with RWG staff about your specific legislative targets.

This 2-part Toolkit provides information to help you advocate for a stop to racial profiling with your Members of Congress.  While you visit your Congressional offices at home, we will work in DC to tell Congressional representatives that we must prohibit racial profiling at all levels of government and eliminate any federal programs that allow this degrading practice to go unchecked.  Join campaign partners of the Racial Profiling: Face the Truth campaign in exercising your civil and political rights.

The Toolkit also comes with a Resource Packet containing various educational one pagers you can leave with the Congressional offices to provide more information and some background materials to prepare you for your visit.
