Membership & Field Intern

Rights Working Group (RWG) formed in the aftermath of September 11th to promote and protect the human rights of all people in the United States. A coalition of more than 330 local, state and national organizations, RWG works collaboratively to advocate for the civil liberties and human rights of everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, citizenship or immigration status.

Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting with campaign outreach in the field
  • Maintain communication and coordination with RWG members on current issues and activities
  • Draft and produce materials for newsletters, toolkits, fliers, brochures, and other outreach materials
  • Conduct research for RWG campaigns including but not limited to stances on RWG issues from legislators and candidates, local organizations, and other issue-related subjects
  • Assist in organizing trainings and events for RWG members
  • Participate in local and national coalition meetings
  • Provide assistance to the department with other administrative tasks, as necessary
  • Work extensively to promote and organize RWG's Racial Profiling: Face the Truth campaign

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform detail oriented work with accuracy/timeliness
  • Highly organized, dependable, and able to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer literate; proficient with Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and human rights
