DE NOVO:  A Child’s Journey Towards a New Life Through the U.S. Immigration System

The WCL Immigrants’ Rights Coalition is pleased to host a performance of DE NOVO, a powerful and poignant play about the true story of fourteen-year-old Guatemalan asylum seeker, Edgar Chocoy and his legal struggle through the U.S. immigration system. The play will be presented by members of New York's Houses on the Moon Theater Company. Playwright Jeffrey Solomon will discuss research conducted on the project, including a review of court transcripts and conversations with immigration attorneys. Following the play, experts in the field of immigrant children’s advocacy will discuss issues of gang-based asylum and the detention of immigrant children.
